GPN Tool to be launched at the General Practice Nursing Conference in London
16 March 2010
Londonwide LMCs are launching their General Practice Nurse online learning tool at their General Practice Nursing Conference in London on March 17th.
The online learning tool has been designed by Kent House and is set to become an essential resource for any nurse new to general practice, as well as a useful refresher generally. It provides introductory level learning resources and self-assessment questionnaires across a range of topics, covering baseline skills for nursing in general practice. It represents the building blocks of an educational pathway to support a career in general practice nursing.
Topics covered by the programme include Finding your feet in general practice, General treatment Room Skills, Emergency Situations, Immunisations, Long term conditions, Sexual Health, Mental Health and Career Development. Once a section is complete nurses are taken through a multiple choice questionnaire to help them understand how well they have understood the topic.
As part of the course, Londonwide LMCs are including two workshop days, where nurses have a chance to speak with the course authors and ask any questions they may have gathered over the course of their online learning.
